Michelle Obama Makes Rare Public Appearance

Former First Lady Speaks at the Obama Foundation Summit

Former First Lady Michelle Obama made a rare public appearance on Wednesday, speaking at the Obama Foundation Summit in Chicago.

Obama spoke about the importance of education, mentorship, and civic engagement.

"We need to make sure that every child in this country has access to a quality education," Obama said.

"We need to create more opportunities for mentorship and leadership, so that our young people can reach their full potential. And we need to encourage more people to get involved in their communities, so that we can build a better future for all."

Obama's appearance at the summit was her first public appearance since she left the White House in January 2017.

She has since been working on a number of projects, including her memoir, "Becoming," which was released in November 2018.
